It was popular in enterprise-level applications due to its flexibility and extensibility. However, Zend Framework is now deprecated and has evolved into the Laminas Project, which continues its development with modern PHP support and improvements. It is based on a modular architecture, meaning developers can use individual components (like authentication, routing, forms, and database handling) as needed instead of relying on a monolithic system.
