AIDE 0.18.6 on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with Free Maintenance Support by PCloudhosting

AIDE (Advanced Intrusion Detection Environment) 0.18.6 on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS is available on AWS Marketplace as a repackaged open-source solution with optional maintenance support from PCloudhosting. AIDE is a host-based intrusion detection system that helps monitor file integrity by creating a trusted baseline of your system and alerting you when changes occur.

Once deployed on Amazon EC2 using the Marketplace AMI, AIDE builds a database of essential system files, including hashes, permissions, ownership, and timestamps. It compares your live system against this baseline to detect unauthorized changes, deleted files, and unexpected additions. This makes it useful for security audits, compliance checks, and early detection of server issues.

Since it is provided as a preconfigured Amazon Machine Image (AMI), you can launch AIDE quickly without manual installation and start monitoring right away.

Key Technical Highlights

AIDE running on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS

File integrity monitoring using cryptographic hashes

Tracks permissions, ownership, size, and timestamps

Detects unauthorized file changes, deletions, and additions

Command-line driven and lightweight (low system overhead)

Works well for compliance and security auditing

Optional maintenance support from PCloudhosting (listing dependent)

Core Capabilities of AIDE

Baseline System Snapshot

AIDE creates a trusted snapshot of system files and stores it as a reference database. This becomes your known-good state.

Change Detection

During scheduled or manual scans, AIDE compares the current system against the baseline and reports:

Modified files

New files

Deleted files

Permission or ownership changes

This helps identify suspicious activity early.

Compliance-Friendly Monitoring

AIDE is commonly used to support security frameworks that require file integrity monitoring, making it suitable for regulated and production environments.

Why AIDE Works Well on AWS Marketplace

Fast EC2 Deployment

Launch directly from Marketplace AMI

No manual setup required

Consistent environment every time

Fits Standard AWS Operations

Runs inside your VPC

Access controlled through Security Groups

Storage backed by EBS

Easy automation using cron or scripts

Simple Scaling

Since AIDE runs on EC2, scaling is handled by resizing the instance as needed.

Centralized Billing

Software and infrastructure charges appear together on your AWS bill, making cost tracking easier.

Support Model

AIDE remains open source. Optional PCloudhosting support (depending on your listing) may include:

Patch and update guidance

Troubleshooting assistance

Operational support for production setups
