What the publisher says

As described on AWS Marketplace.

Akkodis Application Modernisation – Uplift takes an existing application and moves it onto a better foundation. The application keeps doing what it does — same business capabilities, same architecture in essence — but lands on a stronger platform, with current runtime and frameworks, improved security posture and better operational practices. Risk goes down, supportability goes up, total cost of operation drops.

Uplift is the right pathway when the application still serves the business well, but the underlying technology has aged out of vendor support, accumulated security exposure, or become expensive to operate.

**Common uplift scenarios**

  • **Language and runtime upgrades** — moving an application onto current major versions of its runtime (e.g. Java JDK, Python, Node.js), including breaking-change remediation
  • **Framework and library upgrades** — bringing application frameworks, ORMs, web frameworks and supporting libraries to current supported versions
  • **Database migration** — migrating to AWS-managed databases (e.g. Oracle to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, SQL Server to Amazon RDS), preserving application behaviour
  • **Containerisation** — packaging applications into containers and running them on Amazon ECS, Amazon EKS or AWS Fargate
  • **Replatforming to AWS** — moving an existing on-premises or legacy-hosted application onto AWS-managed services with minimal application change
  • **Security and compliance uplift** — addressing identified security findings, hardening configuration, modernising authentication, improving auditability
  • **Operational practices uplift** — adding CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, monitoring and observability where previously absent

**How we work**

Akkodis consultants and engineers drive the work end-to-end, with AI tooling embedded in our delivery method to accelerate code analysis, refactoring, test generation and validation. AI enhances and augments our delivery to accelerate time to value and reduce cost — it does not replace the engineering judgement required to make safe changes to production-bearing systems.

Typical engagement shape:

  • **Confirm scope** — validate the uplift target, success criteria and rollback strategy (often informed by a prior Modernisation Assessment)
  • **Analyse** — codebase, dependency and configuration analysis; identify breaking changes, deprecations and security findings
  • **Design** — uplift approach, sequencing, test strategy, deployment and cutover plan
  • **Execute** — code and configuration changes, automated unit and integration test creation, build and deployment artefact preparation
  • **Validate** — automated system, integration and regression testing; performance and security verification
  • **Cutover and operate** — controlled cutover with rollback ready; optional handover to Akkodis Managed Application Services

**AI delivery method**

Akkodis operates within isolated AI development environments with controlled access to approved AI services, designed to be compatible with strict data-handling and AI-use policies. Client codebases remain segregated, with managed prompts, instructions and tooling under Akkodis governance.

**Targets and technologies**

Uplift covers applications of any size, shape and deployment model — including hybrid configurations connecting AWS to on-premises systems. Common target stacks include containerised workloads on Amazon ECS, Amazon EKS or AWS Fargate; serverless on AWS Lambda; and AWS-managed data services (Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, Amazon DynamoDB).

**How we deliver**

Akkodis is an AWS Advanced Tier Services Partner. We bring senior delivery engineers — software developers, database administrators, solution architects and test engineers — supported by our AI-enabled delivery method. Engagements typically run as fixed-scope or time-and-materials work shaped by a prior Modernisation Assessment. The uplifted application can transition into Akkodis Managed Application Services on AWS for ongoing operation.

Highlights

Highlighted by the publisher on AWS Marketplace.

Move an existing application onto a better foundation without changing what it does — current runtime and frameworks, AWS-managed services, improved security posture and stronger operational practices. Lower risk, lower cost of operation, better supportability.

AI-enabled delivery method that enhances and augments our engineers' work, accelerating code analysis, refactoring, test generation and validation — reducing uplift effort and time to value while keeping senior engineering judgement on production-bearing changes.

Common scenarios include language and framework upgrades, database migration to AWS-managed services, containerisation on Amazon ECS or EKS, and replatforming to AWS. Pairs with our Modernisation Assessment for scoping and with Managed Application Services for ongoing operation.
