## Exe.dev - Persistent Cloud VMs That Boot in Under 1 Second
Exe.dev is a subscription service for durable, instantly accessible cloud VMs built for developers, coding agents, and sandboxed compute. Unlike ephemeral environments that lose state between sessions, exe.dev VMs keep their disks and boot in sub-second time - so you pick up exactly where you left off without waiting or rebuilding.

## What You Get
- **Sub-second VM boot** - VMs start in under 1 second with full disk state restored
- **Persistent storage** - VMs default to 25 GB disk (resizable), measured by filesystem usage
- **Instant HTTPS access** - Every VM is immediately accessible over HTTPS with sensible secure defaults
- **One-click sharing** - Share a web server, notebook, prototype, or agent workspace as easily as sharing a Google Doc, with optional built-in authentication
- **SOC 2 certified** - Enterprise-grade security with formal compliance posture
## Plans and Resources
**Personal Plan** - 50 VMs, 100 GB pooled disk, 200 GB data transfer per month.
**Team Plan** - 50 VMs per user, 100 GB pooled disk, 250 GB data transfer, admin/user management, and SSO. Team members can burst into teammates' unused capacity.
**Reserved Cloud Pool** - Up to 512 vCPU / 2048 GB RAM, thousands of VMs with pooled disks, SSO, admin management, and AWS VPC integration.
Each VM runs on 2 vCPU / 8 GB RAM (Personal/Team). Additional disk is available at $0.08/GB/month and additional data transfer at $0.05/GB/month.
## Shelley - Built-in Coding Agent
Exe.dev includes Shelley, a web-based coding agent accessible from desktop or mobile over a secure HTTPS route. Ask Shelley to:
- Install software and configure environments
- Run Jupyter notebooks
- Build and deploy websites
- Browse the web and research solutions
- Debug running services
- Automate repetitive tasks inside the VM
Every plan includes a monthly allocation of Shelley tokens priced at underlying model provider rates with no markup. You can purchase additional tokens as needed.
## Compatible Tools and Integrations
Exe.dev VMs are standard Linux machines. You do not have to use Shelley - other coding agents and developer tools work natively. The default image comes preinstalled with popular tools, and you can SSH directly into any VM for full terminal access. The platform supports AWS VPC integration on Reserved Cloud Pool plans for secure connectivity to your existing AWS infrastructure.
Shelley can be disabled at any time with `sudo systemctl disable --now shelley.service`.
## Use Case: AI Agent Development Workflow
A development team building AI-powered applications spins up exe.dev VMs as isolated sandboxes for each coding agent. Each agent gets its own persistent environment where it can install dependencies, run tests, and iterate on code - all without affecting other agents or losing state between sessions. When an agent produces a working prototype, the developer shares the VM via authenticated HTTPS link for team review - no port forwarding, no VPN, no deployment pipeline needed.
## Getting Started
After subscribing through AWS Marketplace, you will be directed to create your exe.dev account. From there you can provision your first VM immediately through the web dashboard or API. VMs are accessible within seconds of creation.
## Security and Compliance
Exe.dev holds SOC 2 certification. All VM access is secured over HTTPS with optional built-in authentication for shared workspaces. The platform enforces secure defaults out of the box so teams can focus on building rather than configuring security.
Highlights

Unknown means this listing does not publish a repository. It is not a statement that the code is closed, and a linked repository is not a claim that the publisher wrote it: the registry computes that relationship privately and does not publish it.
Evidence risk is the share of the build you cannot see before you deploy, not a security rating. Sign in to see the layer-by-layer basis for this band.
