What gets captured
- Sheets with row and column extent, including the hidden and very-hidden ones Excel will not show in the unhide dialog
- Named ranges and structured tables - usually the closest thing to a data dictionary the workbook has
- Every distinct formula with occurrence count, nesting depth, function count and complexity score, volatile and cross-sheet references flagged
- VBA exported as source, module by module - standard modules, class modules, ThisWorkbook and sheet code-behind
- User forms with their control layouts, so the interaction model survives the rebuild
- External links, data connections, pivot caches and query definitions - where the workbook stops being self-contained and becomes an integration
- Cross-sheet references and the recompute order, so the rebuild is sequenceable rather than guesswork
- Data validation rules and the input surface, separating what users type from what the workbook calculates
How it works
- Connect: point the client at a folder, file share or synced OneDrive directory. Read-only. No Excel and no Office install required.
- Discover: every workbook inventoried, fingerprinted and classified. Password-protected files reported, not silently skipped.
- Deep scan: each workbook profiled across five dimensions - structure, data, UI, logic, integration. Stakeholder-ready HTML, Excel and JSON reports per workbook.
- Extract: rows, formulas, VBA source and the dependency graph exported as the AI rebuild bundle. Credentials embedded in VBA are redacted before bundling.
- AI Rebuild: Microsoft AI tooling consumes the bundle and generates the Power Platform replacement end to end - Dataverse schema, Model-Driven, Canvas or Code App, flows for the automation. Rows migrated.
Four migration paths
- Archive: workbooks nobody edits any more but whose numbers must survive. SQLite archive that outlives Excel, the file share and any licence.
- Keep in Excel: sometimes the honest answer is to leave it alone. A genuine calculation model with little stored data and no automation stays where it is.
- Lift: structured, shared workbooks with light logic. Sheets become Dataverse tables or SharePoint lists, with a Model-Driven or Canvas app over them.
- Rebuild: workbooks that are genuinely applications - heavy VBA, user forms, deep formula chains. AI generates the complete Code App from the extracted schema, rows, formulas and VBA.Why Power Accelerate for Excel
