What the publisher says
As described on Microsoft Marketplace.
DataModal Spider Platform is a governed data and AI context platform that deploys as a self-contained appliance into your own Azure subscription. Your sources, catalog, lineage and knowledge graph stay inside your own tenant and virtual network.
Who it is for — data platform and data engineering teams, data governance and stewardship functions, and AI engineering teams that need governed, well-described context before pointing agents at enterprise data.

Connect — Onboard relational, NoSQL, streaming, object store and API sources through one connection model, covering PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, MongoDB, Cassandra, Kafka, S3, Azure Blob, Elasticsearch and vector stores across more than 27 connector types. Credentials are never stored as plain text: they resolve at runtime from HashiCorp Vault, Infisical, AWS Secrets Manager, mounted files or environment variables.
Discover — Run automated inventory and column level profiling, apply data quality rules and scoring, and generate a business glossary. Results are persisted to a knowledge graph so lineage and meaning stay queryable rather than trapped in reports.
Model — Map your sources onto canonical industry models spanning wealth management, private equity, asset management, hedge funds, higher education and telecommunications, then measure conformance against those standards and publish a data trust scorecard.
Serve — Compose data components and views that execute against your live sources, and expose them over HTTP, a command line, or the Model Context Protocol. Applications and AI agents consume governed, described views instead of raw tables.
Govern — Role based access control, single sign on through OIDC or SAML, a complete audit trail, and human approval gates on agent actions. A governed tool registry tracks every exposed capability, its health, and the minimum role required to call it.
Operate — The appliance ships with its own PostgreSQL, Redis, Neo4j and object storage. On first boot it generates every per instance secret, provisions its databases, detects its own hostname and starts the platform. There is no dependency on any DataModal hosted service and the deployment does not phone home.

Compliance
- FedRAMPConfirmedNot listed90%, registry-checkedNo FedRAMP Marketplace entry matched this vendor's domain, checked 2026-08-27registry recordas observed 2026-08-27
Confirmed means matched to a public authoritative registry. Claimed means the vendor or its listing states it, not yet cross-checked. A framework not shown was not found in any source we hold, which is not evidence against it. Not listed means a scoped registry check found no match for this vendor's domain: a No is a scoped registry check, not a compliance judgment. Confidence bands: 95% domain-verified, 90% registry-checked, 80% self-attested, 70% weak signal. Self-attested items marked “vendor's site” are gathered from the vendor's own website and are not verified by us.

Unknown means this listing does not publish a repository. It is not a statement that the code is closed, and a linked repository is not a claim that the publisher wrote it: the registry computes that relationship privately and does not publish it.
Evidence risk is the share of the build you cannot see before you deploy, not a security rating. Sign in to see the layer-by-layer basis for this band.
